The Secret Garden in Wildes Meadow, is the love child of Kathy Finigan, a horticulturalist with over 30 years of experience. Established in 1994, the garden has grown to cover the full 5 acres of the property, spanning different aspects and faces of the property to give completely different growing climates, accommodating a range of plants. The Secret Garden is a hidden treasure, nestled in the beautiful rural surrounds of Wildes Meadow, a convenient 50-minute drive from Wollongong, an hour from Canberra, or two hours from Sydney.
Whether you are engaged or getting married, you have an important event, or simply want to get some beautiful photography done, The Secret Garden is the perfect location. With a myriad of different areas in the garden, no two photos will look the same.
Your wedding should be as unique as you are, so making sure that you choose the right venue for your wedding is paramount to making it the best day of your life.
Choose a beautiful surrounding, equipped with preferred suppliers who have worked with our space before to ensure that your day goes off without a hitch.
Choose local blooms from the garden to ensure that your wedding is sustainable and environmentally friendly. You are also more than welcome to use your own caterers, stylists, and florists within the garden.
The Fountain Garden
A formal garden centered around a babbling water feature, perfect for a more traditional wedding ceremony or photoshoot. Surrounded by mature trees and formal hedges, be instantly transported into an old English garden, complete with a sandstone fountain and grand staircase down to the sunken garden which is the focal point of the space. Lush foliage makes The Fountain Garden a joy year-round, with bespoke flowers able to be added to uniquely style the space for you.
The Birch Walk
Absolutely idyllic in winter when the daffodils are in bloom, The Birch Walk is one of the most constant areas of the garden. Winding paths, bare birch trees, grasses, and dark green hedges create an incredible spot for photography, perfectly complimenting grey winter days or bright spring sunshine. In summer, the dappled light of the birches gives a fairy tale quality, with lacy foliage evoking images of woodlands.
The Wisteria Arbour
The Wisteria Arbour is one of the most photographed and spectacular locations in The Secret Garden. From weeping Wysteria to purple-toned ground cover and complimenting white standard roses, the space is feminine and the perfect space for a wedding. The Wysteria walk is one of the highlights of the garden, with the long flowers weeping over an arbor that makes the perfect setting for a wedding or long lunch in the spring.
Megan’s Garden
A private room, a garden created in memory of Megan. Spectacular in spring, the garden in bloom is white and pink, surrounded by dark green hedges. The majestic Chinese Weeping Elm dominates the center of this private lawned garden. With room for 40 seated, Megan’s Garden provides the perfect place for an intimate wedding ceremony.
The Cherry Blossom Walk
At the peak of its beauty in Spring, The Cherry Blossom Walk is just magnificent. Be transported as you wander down the path, lined with a variety of blossom and magnolia trees. Your feet are brushed by bright and colorful alpine phlox, which are an absolute show stopper in Spring.
The Marquee Lawn
Nearly half an acre of lawn, adjacent to the lake and surrounded by established trees. This area is ideal for a large marquee or Sperry tent, with plenty of room for all the facilities needed to bring together a spectacular outdoor country wedding.
The Wedding Gazebo
A spectacular location for your wedding ceremony. A white gazebo set against the edge of a man-made lake, offering beautiful views across a large lawn and The Cherry Blossom Walk. The Wedding Gazebo offers a fantastic wet-weather option for brides and bridal party, or excellent coverage from the warm summer sun. A stunning location for your special day.
The Rose Lawn
One of the most favored spots in the garden for wedding ceremonies, with space for a large number of guests. The Rose Lawn is exactly that, a large expanse of lawn surrounded by roses. The roses are in bloom from November to April, with the peak of their blooms in late November. From November, the features a stunning display of pink roses, offset by white and pink roses in the garden beds. The stunning established trees provide an intimate and rich backdrop, perfect for your romantic garden ceremony.
